Michigan State Government will launch a $600,000 LED Light Grant Program

It is reported that urban buildings and parking lots in Burton County, Michigan, USA will use energy-efficient LED lights. Michigan City officials pointed out that in the 2011-2012 fiscal plan, the investment of $600,000 will be used for the installation of LED street lights, compared with the previous year. In comparison, an increase of $100,000. Part of the subsidy program will be used for the promotion of indoor lighting and commercial lighting in energy saving programs. The use and installation of LED lights will be promoted through the distribution of brochures or green business initiatives.

It is understood that the Michigan State Government plans to contribute $45,600 in subsidies to the purchase and installation of Burton City Hall, the Public Works Department, and police ballasts and LED lights. The grant will also be used for the installation of LED lighting fixtures in outdoor parking lots.

According to calculations, Michigan can reduce the electricity bill by $4,929 in lighting, a reduction of more than 75%; while the 11-year-old LED luminaire can reduce the maintenance cost of $52,804.
